A while back, I made up my mind to never allow a man into my life. Like the sky is blue on a sunny day, I believed this would forever be. I mean if my heart has been so severely broken then why risk it?
This decision felt right until……until i had a conversation with a friend. He told me that after a golden cup has been broken, we should not disregard the smaller pieces because they are still gold and something great can come from it.
like an exponential graph, my thoughts exponentially grew… i thought until i thought there would be no space for another thought.
Know what i learnt?
1. That when you have a broken heart give it to God. He will mend it for you. Hes our father and would not want to see us hurt and broken. He would not want us to withhold from the great things He wants to give us because of the past.
2. From my broken heart, i got to know myself better! How? i got to know my worth as a woman. If it was not for it, i probably would have thought i deserve “ordinary” and not “extra-ordinary”. I would have thought that being cheated on, made to feel small is normal. As long as he claims to love you then its okay right? no! The kind of love stated in 1 corinthians 13 really is what we all deserve.
3. I got to learn that the best love story written is by God and if you decide to be your own author, then things might not work in your favour. God is the beginning and the end. Beginning something without the Beginning “God” is just a wrong move.
4. if something did not go right the first time then it does not mean you should give up and write it off! If doing this was best then Christ would have given up on the world, the moment the first people rejected him!
5.Just because something did not work out, it does not mean, your less pretty, less special and a failure.

Do i still say “no to love”? ofcourse not! God is love and i wont let the past hurts to write off my love story. Just because a person does not appreciate you, it does not mean your worthless. if we were all to see ourselves in the eyes of God, most of us would not starve ourselves, do unnecessary surgeries, allow ourselves to be side-chicks, push people who care away, stoop down to meet a guys needs!
A broken heart is not the end of you! Give it to God, allow him to heal you! Love yourself and be positive! Stand up and be a better you! It wont happen overnight but you need to be willing to allow the process to take place. Change will not happen until you decide you want it.
